Sketchy Vibes

Good morning, everyone! Wendy here with you today to share a layout for the brand new sketch this week. It was created by Cassie Jr. What I really like about this sketch is the strips of paper and the visual triangle of embellishment clusters. But I did make a change for my layout and flipped the vertical strips to horizontal. Take a look!

I started this layout using a premade mixed media background paper from Vicki Boutin. They are my favorite because they're so easy to use and the work is done for you. But they are thick and can take extra media on them like what I chose to do. I added some Prism paste to a Grime Layering Stencil. I liked the shiny texture it added. I knew I wanted to use these silly pictures of my boy. I've mentioned before that he hates brushing his teeth and it's always a fight. That is until we got a special toothbrush. At the end of each brushing session, he gets to take his picture using various filters. I think he spends more time taking selfies than brushing. These shark photos had me cracking up when I found them on my phone. So, again, keeping these pictures in mind, I switched the vertical stripes to horizontal and made them waves.

I pulled my June Paper Issues kit and grabbed most of the papers from there. I also grabbed my alphas, labels, puffy hearts and "vibes" title from the kit. Oh! Remember the last time I used my June kit, I downloaded and used the Splash Cut File and used it? Well, I had a few small pieces left over and so I incorporated them on this layout as well. Those little splashes will last forever! The chipboard stars are from Elle's Studio and I had the sequins pack tucked away in my stash. It even had one teeny tiny seashell sequin and that's the whole reason I grabbed this pack. I hand stitched a boarder to the waves in a silver metallic thread. That type of thread is super pretty, but super pesky too. For as layered and detailed as this layout is, it really went pretty fast. Have a look at some up close detailed photos.

Now it's your turn to get creative with this challenge and I hope you are feeling inspired to scrap! The new challenges are SO FUN this month. I can't wait to see what you come up with! Remember to upload your new creations in the November Usual Suspects album of the Paper Issues Friends and Fan Facebook group.
