August Pocket Page Challenge!

Welcome to the August Pocket Page Challenge! Each month Paper Issues brings you new challenges to spark your creativity. They are posted here on the blog and you can play along in our Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} group over on Facebook. Share your page(s) and earn a chance to win a gift certificate to the shop! The August Challenge is open through September 1st.

Your August Pocket Page Challenge is to use one (or) any combination of the following:
  • Show page(s) from 2016
  • Use wood grain - patterned paper, wood veneer, a twig perhaps?
  • Show me handwriting! Examples: journaling, write a place and date, get your family to jot a note or memory

Here is my inspiration pocket page spread, using all three of the challenge options! These pages are from July 4th weekend this year, using mainly the Pink Paislee Outfitters collection.

This collection offerred so much from papers, to fabric banners to stickers, Thickers and enamel shapes. It ended up the perfect choice for documenting this lake vacation. I fell hard for that herringbone woodgrain and worked it into both pages.

I use my handwriting on every single page I create. It might not always be the quickest way to journal (I'm a bit of an, ahem, perfectionist) but, to me, it adds such a unique, personal touch. My best tips for getting results that will make you happy? 1) Use lines and 2) write in pencil first to be sure you like the spacing and placement then, go over your writing with a pigment pen and erase away the pencil once the ink is dry.

How will you use the August Challenge in YOUR pockets? I cannot wait to see the entries for this month! See you in our Facebook group,
Jen

  1. So pretty! Love this collection with your photos. I really need to start journaling in pencil first. Great tip.
