Good morning, everyone! Wendy here with you today to share a layout for the brand new Dirty Dancing challenge. It's part of our monthly Pop Up Crop challenge and the theme this month is movies! For this challenge we want you to leave one corner of your photo completely blank. Why? Because no one puts Baby in the corner.
When I heard that quote of from the movie, I immediately thought of the time earlier this year when my dog put himself in the corner. He does that. He's a big baby and when he gets his feelings hurt, he goes and puts himself in timeout and pouts by himself. Usually he ends up in his crate with his back to everyone, but this time I found him sitting in the corner at the end of the hallway in the dark. I obviously had to scrap it.
I wanted to keep this layout fairly simple and not cluttered considering only one of my corners would be blank. I placed three strips of paper along the left side, purposely covering two corners. These Bella Blvd hearts and ombre papers come in numerous colors, but I chose to use Ice, Orange, and Pickle Juice. I roughed up the edges using my Tim Holtz paper distresser and then folded over the bottom edges and attached them with the Tiny Attacher Stapler. Now, if you have one of these already but are in need of refills, the store has you covered! You can find them here. The refills come with 1550 staples so its definitely worth it and will last you.
Next I downloaded the Dog-Gone Cute! cut file that is free in the Paper Issues store. I cut it out on a black paw print patterned paper that was from the Bella Blvd Chloe collection. I like using that one even though it is from the cat collection because my dog is black and white. I roughed up the edges of that too to give it a little more texture. I hand stitched a black outline for more detailed definition. The striped paper is from the dog collection, Cooper that was also in the store as is most of the ephemera you see. I am picking through my remaining pieces so I'm going to need another pup collection soon!
The very cute "Time Out" fabric die cut is from Pinkfresh Studio. I covered two chipboard tags with the same patterned paper and added some acrylic, enamel and sticker hearts. I placed all that in a cluster in the third corner leaving the bottom right corner open. For my title, I used the "dog" that came in the ephemera pack, Florence alphas in Pickle Juice, and the "hilarious" is a watercolor title from Heidi Swapp that I colored with my Vicki Boutin watercolor markers. I added journaling and that completed my layout. It was super fast to put together! Have a look at a couple of up close details photos.
