Good morning, everyone! Wendy here with you today to share a layout for the brand new 1950's mood board challenge. It's part of our monthly Pop Crop challenge and the theme this month is different decades. For each decade there is a different mood board to inspire you and get your creative juices flowing. Fun idea, right? Isn't this board amazing?!
Let me share with you what inspired me before sharing my layout with you. I have intentions of creating a layout for each decade featuring my mom throughout the years. I think it will be fun to see the progression and changes and I don't scrap enough of my mom. So, my mom was born in the 50's and is a twin so immediately I was drawn to the top right corner with the ladies in dresses. It's a known fact that my grandma made their clothes and dressed my mom in red and my aunt, her sister, in blue. So with the main color scheme of this board being pink and blue, I thought it was perfect to feature them. However, I am really drawn to the colors of the far right, middle column with the jukebox. I love the hints of orange and yellow in there. Here's my layout!
For this layout I immediately picked up my May Picking Wildflowers kit. The colors just match so perfect with that jukebox tile! I love this kit and there are still kits available in the store. There are several pieces of paper, including vellum, alphas, mist, and a little goodie bag filled with frames, sequins, tabs, twine, and wood butterflies. There is also an ephemera pack full of flowers.
Everything you see on my layout is included in the kit except for a few things I pulled from my stash: the number four, the acetate and lace hearts, the brown thread, a vintage tag, the gold foil alphas, ampersand, and "brave." I also included a label and stitching stickers from Pretty Little Studio and the used the Round Hole Binding paper edge punch. I cut a "V" into the edges of two papers to mimic the V shape in the center tile and I created a shaker out of one of the frames. I'd like to say this layout came together fast, but it honestly took some time with all of the details. Have a look at some of the up close photos.
