Pocket Pages: Books Read in 2016

Happy New Year! If you're anything like me, another year has passed and you didn't even come near accomplishing the tasks you wish you had.  Every year I set a goal of reading a certain amount of books.  Before having children, I could easily read 50+.  Not so much the case anymore.  Nonetheless, I like to keep track of those books I do read and record them in my Project Life album. 

In 2016 I read 24 books.  I searched Google Images for the book covers and printed them using my Canon Selphy.  I placed 6 photos in each Design A page protector and then set to filling the remaining pockets with paper from the 6x6 paper pad from Crate Paper's Cute Girl.  

I chose this collection for these pages mostly because I LOVE IT but also because of the book ephemera pieces. Some of the cut aparts were also just too perfect not to use.  I made the most of my scraps as well, piecing together bits and pieces to make 3x4 cards.  I may have also went a bit crazy using those hard to use pieces like the teepees and unicorn!  

In addition to the Cute Girl collection, I also used Thickers from Maggie Holmes and Pink Paislee.  I wanted to include some extra pops of black since a lot of the book covers featured that color.  The multi-colored alphas from Pink Paislee paired perfectly with Cute Girl as well.  I also used some items from my stash, including tags from the Atwell collection.

Now I'm not necessarily proud of all the books I chose to read in 2016.  I am part of a book club so I wanted to document the books that I did happen to finish reading - which is not always the case when someone else is picking what you read.  I was shocked to realize that in the entire year I only managed to read 5 of the probably ten chosen books.  Oops!  I'll blame it on the baby.  

It was a lot of fun reflecting on the books that I've read in 2016.  This was my fourth year recording a list of books read and my second year documenting those titles in my Project Life album.  I enjoy looking back and seeing the book covers and not just the titles written in list format.  It really helps to jog my memory about the characters and plot.
