I love the way stitching can add texture, interest, color, and dimension to your projects. I started by back stitching around the hexagon in the baby blue color and then backed the openings with the Flair We R paper and Epic paper.
Since hand stitching is no where near as fast as machine stitching or faux stitching, I like to speed up the rest of my layout so it's not an all day project. This is where sticking to a single collection can help save time and design decisions! I added ephemera around the photos to add interest, but not overwhelm the busy patterned background. I also went with a B&W and color version of similar photos to tie in the colors in the layout.
I love adding more thread to my stitched layouts by coordinating some other colors of messy threads under flair, stickers, or clusters of ephemera.
I finished off this sweet layout of my son and husband with mini alpha and watercolor splatters. I hope you will check out the fun free stitching cut files that are in the Paper Issues store and try them out! While you are there, be sure to grab all of the gorgeous We R High Five collection or any of the other new items! You know you need retail therapy every once in awhile!
