Hello Paper Issues Fans! Carolyn here today with my first blog post! I am so grateful to have the opportunity to create in this talented community. So for this post, I thought I would share a favorite tip, technique and product, all in one layout.
Favorite product: Simple Stories anything! I chose the You Are Here! collection to scrap some vacation photos. I love playing with color and this collection offers lots of fun colors. I also used enamel dots and wood veneers. I couldn't decide if I should leave the wood showing or paint it, so I split the difference and painted half of them. For the background, I matched two similar pieces of paper together so I could use the B side for the yellow strips.
Favorite tip: cutting out photo backing. I'm such a paper hoarder and I often cringe when most of a sheet is used to matte photos. So I cut the inner piece of the matte out for later use. Sometimes I use my paper cutter, this time I used scissors. It means layouts take longer to complete but I think it is worth the extra effort.
Favorite technique: fussy cutting. I cut out the flamingo from one of the cards. To add some extra interest, I used Tim Holtz Mermaid Lagoon Distress Paint for splatters and highlighting the pictures.
I hope you've been inspired to get those summer pictures scrapped! Don't forget to check out the Paper Issues Store for lots of scrappy goodness. Use the code "Carolyn" at checkout for a 20% discount.
Have a great day!
