:: mix it up monday ::

Orange Gearle here with one of my most favorite Mondays of the month -- Mix It Up Monday!  This month we are using watercolors on our projects. Here's my take:

I started with white card stock and used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the hearts and created holes for me to stitch the word "summer".  I added two different colors of blue water color paint to my background using the packaging technique (see video below).  Later I added some splatters of hot pink and black!

You can get the file for the mosaic hearts here (and it's free)!

Before stitching I used my water colors to paint the word "summer" with blues and oranges. Then I used two shades of blue and two shades of orange thread to stitch around the word.

Behind the cut file I added some papers from Simple Stories Sunshine & Happiness collection.  I also added lots of layers behind my photos with papers and die cuts.

And I made a process video too, if that suits your fancy. Click below to see how I created this layout from start to finish.

Rachel Kleinman played along this month and used the same collection, Simple Stories Sunshine & Happiness (and we didn't even talk to each other about it before hand)!

Rachel used water colors on a flower cut file for this layout!  I love the mix of colors here! It's so bright and happy!

Now it's your turn!  Grab your water colors -- or your kid's water colors and play along with us this month. Share your page in the July Challenge Album on the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} Facebook group!  You have until August 1st to play and there are prizes to be had!

There have been quite a few new items that added to the store in the last few days.  Grab some Simple Stories or anything else you need and use the code 'orangegearle' for 20% off your order!
