Scary Spooky Side of Gremlins

Good morning, everyone! Wendy here with you today to share a layout for the brand new Gremlins challenge. It's part of our monthly Pop Up Crop challenge and the theme this month is movies! For this challenge we want you to see those projects featuring your little gremlin(s). If that isn’t your thing you can also get those Christmas photos scrapped. I seriously considered doing a Christmas layout, but it's the spooky season and I found spooky, silly selfies of my kid on my phone again so I decided to scrap those instead.

Let me just tell you that I love Halloween collections! I am a sucker for always buying them. I love how fully complete they are and the ephemera packs and embellishments are always spot on. There's never anything that I toss out or set aside to get rid of. So on this layout, I used several collections, mostly old, but a little new. Mainly I used Crate Paper Hey Pumpkin. It's ranked in the top three of all time favorites! You will also see Fancy Pants Spellbound and A Little Spooky.

To start with I pulled a patterned paper from Hey Pumpkin and wanted to do some mixed media. I used clear Gesso and added drops of orange watercolor to it from Vicki Boutin. On top of that I used black acrylic paint over a stencil. It was messy! But that's okay. I knew most of it would eventually get covered so I wasn't worried about. On top of that I spread Lindy's Black Hole Magic Magical Powders for some added shine. I covered it all with the free Happy Haunting cut file and backed it in vellum so you can see a peek of the mixed media. I piled a bunch of embellishments from all the collections on top of the cut file. As for my photo(s), well, I honestly should have reprinted them larger, but I am lazy and just used my small 2x2 size. I trimmed the bottoms and stacked them and used pop dots to give them a little dimension and an interesting effect. Have a look at my up close photos.

Now it's your turn to get creative with this challenge and I hope you are feeling inspired to scrap! The new challenges are SO FUN this month. I can't wait to see what you come up with! Remember to upload your new creations in the October Pop Up Crop album of the Paper Issues Friends and Fan Facebook group. For each new project you enter, you will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a Paper Issues gift card! You could be a winner so what are you waiting for?! Also share your projects on Instagram. Tag @paperissues and use #paperissues so we can see your projects and maybe share them, too.
