Make A Splash in Water Sports

Good morning, everyone! Wendy here with you today to share a layout for the brand new Water Sports challenge. It's part of our monthly Pop Crop challenge and the theme this month is the Olympics! For this scrapbook challenge we want you document your water photos! Water polo, surfing, rowing, sailing, diving or swimming, they all count!

I have to admit this particular scrapbook challenge was definitely challenging for me! We are not a family that does many water activities as we are weak swimmers. But when a friend invited us to go swimming, we weren't going to say no! Especially my youngest! Nope, no way, he was getting in there one way or another! He loved floating around on the different floaties in the water, including this fun eggplant one.

I used the June Paper Issues kit for this layout and it is so simple and fun, but doesn't have a lot of details. This kit included an ink pad from Pinkfresh Studio and I used that to start with on my page to create a mixed media background. I added some ripped papers to the top and bottom to frame the center of the page a little bit and layered papers behind my photo. I added heart ephemera, a label, and title all from the kit. Inspirtaion struck when I saw the little "Make A Splash" pail. I downloaded and cut the free Splash Circle cut file. I took the individual splashes and hand stitched a border in two different colors for added texture and dimension and added teeny tiny jewels from my Queen and Co. stash for extra sparkle. Then I arranged them coming out from and behind the pail. I think it's so cute, especially with the mixed media watercolor background!! I really think that is the highlight and feature of this layout! All of my upclose detailed photos below show different angles of it. I didn't really want to add journaling to this layout. I didn't think there was a need for it. But it did need something so I added Elle's Summertime Tabs stamps stamped in Jet Black StazOn solvent ink because it's the best black ink out there! Have a look at the splashes below!

Now it's your turn to get creative with this challenge and I hope you are feeling inspired to scrap! The new challenges are SO FUN this month. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
