Wow! First off, thank you so much to everyone who played along with the Project Pocket challenge in the month of May. It was so refreshing to see all you pocket page scrappers post your projects. I hope you will continue to play along in the coming months.
This month I would love to see you include some sort of memorabilia on your page. Again, your project can be any size (4x4, 6x8, 9x12, 12x12, you name it!), but I want you to incorporate that "real life stuff" like movie stubs, concert tickets, postcards, clothing tags, brochures or flyers, packaging ... I could go on!
I've included a layout for inspiration using our tickets to a very special event hosted annually in my city - Day Out With Thomas! My daughter had an absolute blast and we hope to make this a yearly tradition so I thought it fitting to include the tickets. How neat will it be to look back and see them in our pocket page album.
As there was so many different shades of blue in my photos, I decided to use the Simple Stories' Faith collection to match. I love the navy blue and the different patterns in this collection and using them on a non-religious page was super easy! Plus that woodgrain is fabulous!
Including memorabilia can be super simple. Just dedicate a 3x4 or 4x6 pocket to your item. In this case, I overlapped our three tickets and used my tiny attacher to adhere them to a piece of patterned paper. You could do the same with clothing tags or movie stubs. In past layouts, I've popped a postcard right into a 4x6 pocket. I used a little tab to tell viewers of my album that the postcard could be pulled out and then they could read the message on the back. You could easily do the same thing with an invitation or pamphlet. Another super simple option would be to simply punch some holes into the item and slip it into your album between your page protectors. That may be too easy of a solution for this challenge though!
A few of the lovely Paper Issues Design Team ladies participated this month and both of their layouts are stunning and incorporate memorabilia so beautifully!
First up is Marcia who used Simple Stories' Graduation set to document her daughter's big day! Not only did Marcia include the commencement ticket but she also cleverly used some washi to attach her graduate's tassel to the page. What a great way to include that iconic piece without causing any damage and allowing it to be easily removed at a later date if need be. I also love her choice of page protector for this project!
I love me some Disney pages and Anna used Simple Stories' Say Cheese III collection to make this sweet pocket page. She included her ticket to the park (which she divided amongst two pockets) and a few fantastic photos! What I love most about her pages is how she used the patterned paper. On the left she used a 6x8 paper with the castle and cut it to fit into four 3x4 pockets. The stitching around the edges is the perfect touch of embellishment! She repeated a similar element by using the same polka dot paper to fill all the pockets on the right hand side as well. Just perfect!
Well there is some inspiration for you this month. Dig out those pieces of memorabilia and put them in a pocket! I'm not the only one who saves all those bits and pieces, right? I hope you'll participate in the Project Pocket challenge this month. Be sure to add your project photos to the Paper Issues Friends and Fans Facebook group for a chance to win a gift certificate to the store. Feel free to submit as many pocket pages with memorabilia as you wish! I love seeing your projects!
