Lucky Fairies - Cat Martin

Hey Paper Issues fans, it's Cat here back with another layout to share with you!  So when coming up with a layout design I was wondering about all of the stash that I have and all the new product lines that are coming out later in the year.  I know many of the companies have shown some of the new lines, and I don't know about you guys, but there are definitely some that I just HAVE to have!  I just love playing with new pretty things.  First however, I have to get some of my stash used up.  Personally there are items that I have, that may not even be very old, that I just seem to have a bit of difficulty working with.  This time I thought about the Take Me Away chipboard pieces.  I have 2 packages of them, due to accidentally ordering 2 and so I have been trying to use them up.  I have lots of the 12 by 12 papers too, but I find I can mix and match those with other product lines, whereas the chipboard always stumps me. Well, no better time like the present to tackle the challenge of using some of it up!
I have to say, I think I made a pretty good dent in it, and I even used some of the Hazelwood chipboard from 1 2 Canoe, which up until now had just been sitting there calling out to me to use it.  I started with a neutral background, but instead of white, this time I went with a black background, that way I could use some mist and a stencil to create an interesting detail on the background.  I also did something I usually never do, and hand stitched on my layout.  I wanted some wispy lines to help show movement so I grabbed 3 different colors of embroidery floss that went well with the Take Me Away collection.  I drew out my design on the back of my paper and then pre-poked the holes.  I divided my thread into 2 so that there were only 3 strands.  After threading them through the needle and knotting them together I had six strands again.
After that was all stitched I created a few layers under my photos using tissue paper, a doily, and the 6x6 paper pad from the same collection.  I used lots of the chipboard, as well as the mirrored word stickers that I had completely forgotten I had!
There are a lot of phrases and words on this layout in the end, but I really love the whimsy and breezy feel of it!  I added even more sparkle with some sequins and finished it all off by doing my journaling on strips of vellum ( since my white gelly roller was nowhere to be seen!)
Thanks so much for stopping by to check out my latest project and I hope I have encouraged you to use up some of your chipboard stash in a fun and freeing way!  That way when all the new lines are released you won't have to worry about having too much already!!! 😆
