Do you mix?

Hello fellow paper addicts! Rachel here and I have a confession to make. I mix and match collections. A lot. Different designers, different manufacturers, different themes... my layout today uses 6 different collections.

The papers used are mostly from the Seven Paper Goldie collection but I've also included the Jemison paper by Shimelle. For embellishments I used chipboard hearts from Simple Stories I Am, ephemera pieces from Crate Paper Wonder, fussy cut paper phrases also from Wonder, dog phrase stickers from Studio Calico Baxter, and finally some puffy alphas from Pinkfresh Studio Happy Things. Whew!

I've also made a bit of a mixed media background so I'll go ahead and share how I made that...

I started by applying a very thin coat of gesso to just the right side of my paper. I applied it with a palette knife so I could get as thin a coat as possible.

Next, I scribbled some Faber Castell Gelatos on the paper. I picked colors that coordinate with the Goldie papers I'm using.

Now break down the pigment with a brush and some water. I just move the water and brush in little circles until the Gelato starts to spread and blend.

Lastly, I grabbed a stencil and dabbed some teal paint on top. Once it's all dry I'm ready to add my photos and embellishments! Easy peasy.

So how do you scrapbook? Do you use one collection at a time or mix and match like there's no tomorrow? I'd love to know! You can grab any of these collections in the Paper Issues Store... and don't forget to use the code rwkrafts for 20% off your entire order!
