Christmas Memory 2016

Hello Everyone!

It's Leslie on the blog today! I'm happy to share this layout with you today that I made for the Scrappy Christmas in July Challenge!

At first I was a bit apprehensive, I have never scrapped any of my Christmas photo's. ( Yes I know! Sacrilege!) But I quickly got ideas on how to use non Christmas related kits and collections for Christmas layouts. In this layout I used the beautiful Flourish collection from Crate Paper. As I went through the embellishments (the millions that you get!) I couldn't wait to start.

I started off by making my own background, I used plain white textured AC cardstock.
I knew I wanted that would grain paper horizontally across the page so I just lightly penciled a line where I would place it. Then I took my Heidi Swapp Gold color shine and added quite liberal amounts of it along the pencil lines, mostly keeping to the left hand side of the page. after adding the color shine I gently blew through an empty pen chamber ( couldn't find a straw) and it created these beautiful little splatters and lines. I also sprayed the gold color shine directly onto the page.

One the color shine had completely dried I started layering the papers on the page. I used some 12x12 and some of the 6x8 pad to create the layering. I also did some fussy cutting from two of the other pattern papers, one with the yellow flowers, and the other with the pink flowers and green sprigs. I really liked the idea of the sprigs lining the photo cluster, so I cut a few out and added them to the layering. I also went into the 6x12 sticker sheet for that black and white rose sticker and then I also added some florals from the ephemera packs. I thought that this layout would be the ideal layout for those gold dimensional and bendable leaves, so I added a few to the layering as well. I used soem of the 12x12 chipboard sheet to create a cluster in the top right hand corner of the page.
My title is put together with the little alpha stickers from the 6x12 sticker sheet and the gold puffy stickers.

I really hope that this layout will inspire you to not only get your Christmas pics out to scrap, but to also go and have some fun with non-Christmas collections. It challenges you and makes you think out of the box.

I have a process video for this layout here:
